Our gymnastics classes are designed with fun and fitness in mind. We strive to meet the gymnastics needs of all children with a wide range of athletic ability. We follow the USA Gymnastics guidelines with respect to skill progressions and development in the four Olympic events of Vault, Bars, Beam, and Floor. We also utilize the trampoline and tumble track to add to the students’ development of body control and awareness and to help develop strength.
We also have tumbling! Learn to cartwheel and flip in our special “tumbling only” classes, perfect for kids interested in cheerleading, dance, or martial arts. Tumbling class is also terrific for kids who want to stay active and have lots of fun!
Gymnastics students may also add a tumbling class to their workout schedule in order to speed their progression in the sport. Tumblers get a great workout using the Spring Floors, Trampolines, Tumble Trak and other special equipment.
Tots & Pre-School Age
Tiny Tots: This program introduces the world of fitness to our youngest gymnasts. This parent participation class focuses on skills and activities that allow each child to work on physical and social development. Our Parents and Tot class have a lesson plan that is specific to the toddler age as well as attention spans. NOTE: Children must be able to walk to attend this class.
Tiny Twists: There is no stopping these guys! At this point, your child can retain a great deal of instruction, skill knowledge and proper terminology. Gross motor skills are well developed and allow for higher and age appropriate skill levels. With greater body awareness and the ability to solve problems, technique begins.
School Age Gymnastics (all tumbling classes are co-ed)
Beginner (ages 6-12): This is the perfect place for beginners to start a gymnastics career! The instructors lead the beginning student through the basic Progressions in gymnastics for the gymnast to attain skills. Skills attained in Beginner Gymnastics are evaluated continuously to move along to Intermediate gymnastics. In Beginner gymnastics, they will be learning skills such as handstands, cartwheels and round offs on floor. Pull over, casts and chin holds on bars. They will learn how to walk in different positions on the beam and run and hit the spring board properly on vault.
Intermediate (ages 6-12): This class builds upon the knowledge and skills that were learned in Beginner. This intermediate level of Recreational gymnastics continues to develop fun skills and the overall strength and flexibility that gymnastics requires to move to the next level of accomplishment. In Intermediate, they will learn back and front hand springs, handstand forward rolls, etc. Add different jumps and leaps on the beam as well as moving up to the higher beams. Beginning to learn back hip circles and bigger cast.
Advanced (ages 7-14): Our highest skilled recreational class has an open ended curriculum to meet the needs of the student who not only wants to compete one day but also those students who are enrolled in gymnastics for fun. In Advanced gymnastics, it is an open ended skill list of training. They will be working on back tucks and front tucks on floor and more advanced skills. They will begin handstands and cartwheels on beam. On bars, they will be working skills such as squat on and tap swings.
Tumbling (all tumbling classes are co-ed; ages 6-14)
Tumble Bronze: Beginner tumblers learn basic tumbling skills, using the spring floors, trampolines, and tumble track. Students will work on progressive skills leading up to back and front handsprings, including handstands, cartwheels, round-offs, and back walkovers. Drills to improve technique will be the focus and students will also perform conditioning drills to improve strength and flexibility necessary for tumbling. No previous skills are required. Students will progress to Intermediate Tumbling when they can consistently perform a back handspring with a light spot from the coach.
Tumble Silver: Intermediate tumbling is designed for those tumblers who are able to perform their back handspring with a light spot. Intermediate tumblers will focus on performing a back handspring without a spot and on connecting their round-off back handsprings. Tumblers will also be introduced to front tumbling. Students will progress to Advanced Tumbling when they are able to perform a round-off back handspring series independently.
Tumble Gold: Advanced tumbling is designed for students who can consistently perform a round-off, back handspring with no help from a coach.
