Welcome to the wonderful world of Pre-School Gymnastics. Kudos to you for choosing such a wonderful activity for your preschooler.
Gymnastics offers so many benefits in a child’s development, physically and socially. River City Gymnastics takes great pride in developing a safe, fun, and progressive program made specifically for this age group.
Your child will begin to explore the world of gymnastics forward, backward, and sideways in an educational yet fun filled class. Lessons are planned so that we can help build, strong, confident, and healthy children through the fun of gymnastics.
Preschoolers are on the move and ready to go and so are our coaches! Our rotations are designed so that each child has something to do at all times and there is little to no “wait time”.
Each class begins with a 5 minute warm up and stretch to get everyone ready for the fun activities that await them. We participate in 4 to 5 rotations per class, each with 4 – 6 stations.
In each of our stations, we focus on strength, hand-eye coordination, problem solving, flexibility, socialization, and of course, GYMNASTICS skills! Forward and backward rolls, cartwheels, pullovers, handstands, and swings are just a few of the many elements your child will be working on.
We end our day with a group activity and the all-important good job stamp! Below is a description of each of our preschool classes that will leave your child wanting to leap tall buildings in a single bound!
Parent and Tot
This program introduces the world of fitness to our youngest gymnasts. This parent participation class focuses on skills and activities that allow each child to work on physical and social development. Our Parents and Tot class have a lesson plan that is specific to the toddler age as well as attention spans.
NOTE: Children must be able to walk to attend this class.
There is no stopping these guys! At this point, your child can retain a great deal of instruction, skill knowledge and proper terminology. Gross motor skills are well developed and allow for higher and age appropriate skill levels. With greater body awareness and the ability to solve problems, technique begins.
This class is for the Preschool Powerhouses and is considered a Challenge Class for our more advanced preschool students who show great skill potential. Super Tots will continue to follow a preschool curriculum, only with more advanced skills.
Our recreational classes are designed with fun and fitness in mind. We strive to meet the gymnastics needs of all children with a wide range of athletic ability. We follow the USA Gymnastics guidelines with respect to skill progressions and development in the four Olympic events of Vault, Bars, Beam, and Floor. We also utilize the trampoline and tumble track to add to the students’ development of body control and awareness and to help develop strength.
This is the perfect place for beginners to start a gymnastics career! The instructors lead the beginning student through the basic skills of gymnastics while awarding the many opportunities for success that participating in gymnastics offers.
Gym II builds on the knowledge and skills that were learned in Gym 1. This intermediate level of recreational gymnastics continues to develop fun skills and the overall strength and flexibility that gymnastics requires to move to the next level of accomplishment.
Our most advanced recreational class has an open ended curriculum to meet the needs of the student who not only wants to compete one day but also those students who are enrolled in gymnastics purely for fun.

USA Gymnastics Member Club
Competitive gymnastics teaches the ultimate in goal setting, poise, and personal excellence. Emphasis is on achieving your own personal best and sportsmanship.Our Gymnastics team offers gymnasts opportunities to excel in a safe, enthusiastic, and motivating environment. The impact that being part of a team has on an individual lasts a lifetime. Through a team environment, many friendships are shared and bonds are formed. Team participation promotes sharing, cooperation, and compromise. Team members boost self-esteem by setting and achieving goals whiles acquiring new skills.
Learn to cartwheel and flip in our special “tumbling only” classes, perfect for kids interested in cheerleading, dance, or martial arts. Tumbling class is also terrific for kids who want to stay active and have lots of fun!
Gymnastics students may also add a tumbling class to their workout schedule in order to speed their progression in the sport. Tumblers get a great workout using the Spring Floors, Trampolines, Tumble Trak and other special equipment.
Drills are included to enhance strength and flexibility necessary for tumbling skills.
Beginner tumblers learn basic tumbling skills, using the spring floors, trampolines, and tumble track. Students will work on progressive skills leading up to back and front handsprings, including handstands, cartwheels, round-offs, and back walkovers. Drills to improve technique will be the focus and students will also perform conditioning drills to improve strength and flexibility necessary for tumbling. No previous skills are required. Students will progress to Intermediate Tumbling when they can consistently perform a back handspring with a light spot from the coach.
Intermediate tumbling is designed for those tumblers who are able to perform their back handspring with a light spot. Intermediate tumblers will focus on performing a back handspring without a spot and on connecting their round-off back handsprings. Tumblers will also be introduced to front tumbling. Students will progress to Advanced Tumbling when they are able to perform a round-off back handspring series independently.
Advanced tumbling is designed for students who can consistently perform a round-off, back handspring with no help from a coach. Tumblers will focus on connecting multiple back handsprings with proper techniques and will perform drills in leading to back tucks, layouts, and twisting layouts. Enrollment for this class is by coach recommendation after an evaluation has been completed.
Boys Tumble Class
Beginner tumblers learn basic tumbling skills, using the spring floors, trampolines, and tumble track.
NOTE: Children must be 10 years of age to be left without parental supervision.
Day/Time: Fridays from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm
Saturdays from 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm
